I first was introduced to Lou Reed's music as a student in the 80s. I grew to love much of his style and sound. I explored backwards, and followed new releases with interest. I liked that he was risque, although personally I wasn't prepared to explore or endorse some of the dark areas he seemed to explore, and encourage others to explore. He managed wry humour lyrically. I also liked that he could do happy without cheese. He achieved wider appeal than he ever sought with Perfect Day. I want to mark his passing yesterday. Many others will do so, and his better known songs will feature. At this moment in time, I think one of his covers serves my purpose better than picking one of his many self-penned songs. In any case, he took this one of Blind Lemon Jefferson's and boy did he put his own unique stamp on it.
